Graduate School Summer Platform
In preparation for the incoming students, we offer an online Summer Platform during the months of July and August to facilitate the transition to to your studies in Lund. Participation in this course is completely voluntarily, though we strongly encourage you to participate. It is the third time we are offering this possbility, and based on the positive feedback from the previous years’ experiences, we hope that you will find this a helpful and fun way to get started with your studies in Global Studies, Development Studies or Social Studies of Gender.
Why a platform?
The purpose of this summer platform is to help you in your transition to you master’s studies in Lund, whether you are coming from far away or from around the corner. This online platform also gives you the possibility to get an insight into the theme of your future Master’s program, get caught up on your academic writing knowledge, and of course to discuss various topics with both your classmates and 2nd year student mentors. It includes a section with introductory readings selected by your programme directors, a section on academic writing including a self-assessment quiz, and a section focusing on more social and practial aspects about living in Lund.
This platform will take place from July 1 through to the Program Introduction on August 26th. It will be held online on the platform called LiveatLund, the same platform where your future courses will be held. There is no fixed schedule though there will be activities and discussions planned around certain periods. It will be run by 2nd year student mentors who are also in your programme, and have been selected based on their merits, previous experiences, and motivation. While this is a voluntary opportunity, we believe this will be a useful and fun way to ease into your program this autumn.
How do I participate?
If you would like to participate in this opportunity, we ask you to fill out the following form by July 8th:
We look forward to meeting you online!
