Interested in studying a master's programme at Graduate School?
What makes the Graduate School programmes unique?
- Interdisciplinarity. As a student, you are admitted to the programme with your specific major. This means that throughout your education here, you will be expected to reflect on and apply your academic background in your coursework, and most directly when it is time to write your thesis. In addition, each course is multidisciplinary and taught by a teaching team from at least two different departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
- International in Sweden. Our courses are taught in English by international and local teachers, and about half our students come from outside of Sweden. Many courses include hands-on group work, seminars and workshops, allowing you to meet and discuss with a wide range of students, allowing you to develop your global perspective, intercultural communication skills, and teamwork skills.
- A structure that allows you to tailor your education. The programmes combine mandatory courses (profile courses and courses in methods and theory) with a flexible third term where you have the chance to tailor your education to your own needs and ambitions. If you are interesting in gaining more practical experience, many students choose to go on an internship either locally or internationally. If you are interested in exploring a subject outside your comfort zone, or delve deeper into an existing interest, you may choose to take an elective course. Or if you wish to take courses in another country, you may wish to go on an exchange. To find out more about your Third Term, see here.
What do Graduate School alumni go on to do?
Our alumni have obtained work in international NGOs, state agencies, companies and continued with their academic career as PhDs both in Sweden and abroad. If you are an international student and wish to find work in Sweden, we strongly encourage you to learn Swedish. Many international alumni have also returned to their homeland with their new skills and knowledge and have entered fields directly related to their studies. Visit the page on Career Prospects to read about the kinds of job titles that our alumni have had 1-2 years after graduation.
