During this period, you will not be able to enter or retrieve any information from Ladok. In practice, it means that you will not be able to:

  • view your results
  • request or print out a Ladok certificate
  • have any results reported in Ladok
  • register for exams in the student portal (www.student.lu.se)
  • register yourself, or be registered by someone else, for a course
  • Apply for a degree certificate(web application closed 14 March-17 April)

Remember that the issuing of certain certificates or requests for degree certificates, for example, may take some time to process. Therefore, if you need something done before 21 March, be sure to make such requests in good time. Lund University is currently preparing for the temporary shutdown of Ladok. Our goal is to make sure that it will affect students as little as possible. We will return with more information as we proceed.

Seminar: Higher research seminar with Cecilia Cannon: Tracing the effects of International Organisation financing reforms

Many International Organisations are dealing with a financing drought. As member-states continue to slash their obligatory and voluntary financial contributions, financing diversification appears to be the only way forward. Yet there is no one set way to diversify, and little analysis exists to guide IOs and states as they weigh various financing options. IOs can secure voluntary contributions from private sources through various funding models, and they can also generate revenue by charging fees for services and goods provided. This paper maps the financing reforms implemented by the World Health Organisation (that relies increasingly on voluntary contributions from private sources) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (that now relies almost entirely on revenue generated from fees charged for goods and services provided). We trace the short- and long-term effects of these financing reforms.

Assembly: 8th of March Feminist Assembly

Gender Troublemakers (GT) would like to invite you to our yearly event on the 8th of March. GT is joining the international global action #2018M. This is a coalition of movements, networks, collectives, people and organizations aiming at strengthening the actions of the feminist struggle in the world. Starting in Latin America and now trying to reach other parts of the world, feminists are organizing assemblies to discuss particular problematics and to envision politics of transformation. GT will hold our an assembly in Lund where we will discuss about transnational feminisms and share experiences of feminist activism in different geographical locations. After the assembly we hope the participants will join us for a demonstration in the streets of Lund. We will supply the materials for the signs!!

On this day, we would also like to commemorate the tragic event that occurred in Guatemala on the 8th March of 2017 when 41 girls were killed by a fire in the youth shelter they lived. Other 15 were injured. This was not an accident but an act of neglect by the authorities who failed to protect the girls. We will put plants with the names of the girls all over Lund and we will fly kites, to remember them and to make a call for justice. We will provide Fika for the assembly and the materials for the demonstration.

Time: 8th of March 2018 - 10:00 to 13:00
Location: Allhelgona Kyrkogata 14, House M, floor 2

Film screening: India’s Daughter

India's Daughter narrates the story of an ordinary girl with an extremely cruel life experience which broke the silence around rape culture in Indian society. This is the story of Nirbhaya (also known as Jyoti Singh), a 23-year-old medical student in Delhi who in 2012 was brutally murdered by six men on a bus on her way home. The murder was documented by Leslee Udwin as a part of BBC's Storyville series and was broadcasted on International Women’s Day in 2015. Initially, for reasons related to ethical and moral concerns, authorities did not allow the film to be screened. However, amidst all the controversies around the film, India's Daughter is still shouting out to the world, seeking justice for her ordeals, or perhaps just waiting for a safer world. It's been six years since the gruesome event in Delhi. In the current climate, where the #Metoo movement has opened up a space for women's voices about harassment, assault and violence, this documentary invites us to look back and ask critical questions about transnational feminism, the ethics of viewership, gender and power dynamics, and constructions of masculinity. SASA will be screening India’s Daughter on International Women's Day in an effort to re-explore and re-evaluate the context of gender-based sexual violence in India. Amrita Ghosh, postdoctoral researcher at Linnaeus University, and Maria Tonini, researcher and teacher at Lund University, will give talks on the significance of the film.

Time: 8th of March 2018 - 17:00 to 20:00
Location: Stora Algatan 4 International Desk, Lund

Seminar in Malmö: Why here? Stateless Refugees’ from Syria Influences in Choosing Germany or Sweden as Countries to Seek Asylum

Jason Tucker, Postdoctoral researcher, Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare (MIM), Malmö University.

This paper presents the findings of research on the factors that influenced stateless refugees from Syria choosing Germany or Sweden as the country within which they sought asylum. Thirty-three in-depth interviews were carried out during 2017 in the two countries. These focused on why they chose the country, the reasoning behind this and when the decision was made. The findings show that there was a very high degree of destination specificity towards Sweden for nearly all the participants. This was based on the desire to reach the country due to its very accessible citizenship, thus allowing them to resolve their statelessness. The research details how many of the refugees had conducted comparative research, or drew on information from social networks, to establish in which European country they could most easily and quickly acquire citizenship. The research finds that in order to better understand the migration of stateless refugees, their desire to resolve their statelessness should be considered.

Time: 8th of March 2018 - 14:15 to 16:00
Location: MIM Room C0929/Library, 9th floor, Niagara. Malmö University.
