One-Year Master

Reduce your master programme to 60 credits

Possibility of one-year master

If you are enrolled in either the MSc. programme in Development Studies, Global Studies, or Social Studies of Gender and you cannot complete the full two-year programme at Graduate School, you have the option of changing your programme track to a one-year master of 60 credits. This option is only available to students who have not yet registered for a 30-credit thesis course. If you are a current student wishing to learn more about this option, contact your academic advisor via counselling [at] sam [dot] lu [dot] se (counselling[at]sam[dot]lu[dot]se)

In order for us to secure a supervisor for the thesis course for one-year master students, it is highly important that you notify us as early as possible in your first term of studies if you wish to pursue this option.

The one-year master is not advertised as an option open for application on University Admissions. Students wishing to pursue a one-year master in Development Studies, Global Studies, or Social Studies of Gender must first be admitted to the 2-year (120-credit) programme before switching to the 1-year (60-credit) programme.

Please note that the one-year master is not available to programme students enrolled in Middle Eastern Studies and Social Scientific Data Analysis.
